Vanessa R. Rayner completed her M.A. in Child Study in the Department of Education at Concordia University. To date, her primary research interests have centered on the development of preservice teachers' specialized content knowledge of elementary mathematics and on the factors associated with their experience of mathematics anxiety. She is currently involved in a longitudinal study that is examining how first-grade students' knowledge of addition and subtraction develops as a function of their teachers' knowledge and practice. Vanessa will begin her doctoral studies in Education at Concordia University in September 2009.
