Eileen Wood, PhD, is a Professor of developmental psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Her primary area of research examines cognitive development, specifically, how learners come to acquire information and retain it for future use. Most recently, she has been examining how computer technology impacts on the learning environment both from the perspective of instructional delivery and the cognitive demands and underpinnings associated with using computers for instruction. Eileen has also examined physical and social challenges associated with the use of computers for learners across the lifespan. Dr. Wood recently received the award of University Research Professor in acknowledgement of her research contributions in these areas. She has produced books, chapters and research articles in each of these areas.
