William R. Bobier


William R. Bobier, OD, PhD, earned his optometry (OD) degree from the University of Waterloo in 1978. After a year in private practice, he received his MSc from Waterloo (1982) and PhD from Cambridge (1987). He joined the faculty at the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo in 1987. Since that time he has contributed to the development of paediatric optometry through clinical and didactic teaching and research. He has served as the Associate and then Director of the School of Optometry. In addition, Dr. Bobier holds provincial, optometric licensure and federal and international memberships in professional organizations including the British College of Optometrists, the American Academy of Optometry and the Cambridge Philosophical Society. Dr. Bobier's research has focused on vision screening of pre-school children and fundamental studies concerning the relationship between ocular focusing and eye alignment particularly as it pertains to infants and children.
